Friend of the NPD and most liberals Marc Emery (a.k.a. “Prince of Pot”—how delightful!) was, as most of us have heard, arrested this past week as part of a U.S. government request (passed through Canadian judicial system of course) to see that justice is done. Liberals are against that, but don’t wait for the liberal media to seek comments from Libby Davies or any other radical leftist to prove it. This isn’t about abortion! If it was, every full-on conservative would be questioned, silly!
Marc Emery, previously convicted in Canada eleven times on drug-related charges, and indicted in the U.S. by a grand jury a year ago last May after an 18-month investigation, invited NDP leader Jack Layton onto his Pot-TV.net talk-show last year—while under investigation. POT-TV produces the web site and its talk-shows right on the premises that was raided this past week, which is also where pot-smoking takes place in their public “cafe” and pot-growers’ equipment and paraphernalia is sold. Layton obliged him, even going so far as to do a video ad for POT-TV.net. I’ve never see Layton’s mug in an ad for AIDS prevention through abstinence, or one promoting “family values”, strangely enough—just the POT-TV.net ad.
Emery interviewed Prime Minister Martin’s partner and Prime Ministerial wannabe Layton about pot-smoking and how the NDP favors it, for about 20 bizarre, otherworldly, depraved minutes. I wrote about it last year here, describing it in some bedazzled detail.
Includes Jack Layton’s ad for POT-TV.net!
(I made an audio-only recording of it in case it mysteriously disappears some day)
Don’t let anyone tell you the liberal-left isn’t looking out for your kids……. and their pot-smoking needs! Getting kids high on drugs by relaxing pot-smoking laws is one of the most important things in the liberal-left anti-family agenda. The Liberals and the NDP (working together, again!) hope to introduce legislation this fall legalizing or at the very least relaxing pot-smoking laws, making it easier for our kids to get flipped-out on drugs. Because that’s what Canada needs today! That’s sure to attract the best and brightest to our fabulous country! Thanks liberals!
Then it’s on to their prostitution legalization (see blog entry below), and further dealing with the gay marriage fallout which is sure to come. Then it’s socialist daycare, Soviet Union-style! Then of course if time permits, defending our country against terrorism and other such non-liberal annoyances.
But anyway.
Vancouver marijuana store raided
In Vancouver, Const. Howard Chow was asked to explain at a news conference why city police didn’t arrest and charge Emery without needing a U.S. request.
“This is information that came to us (from the U.S.) about a year ago and investigations take time,” said Chow.
Chow acknowledged that Emery’s operation has been known to city police for several years.
“You can’t expect to fly under the radar without being held accountable. Distribution of pot is illegal in the U.S. as it is here in Canada.”
Chow reiterated that it was information from the U.S., not its own officers, that prompted the execution of the search warrant.
“This is good, substantive information that we received from the U.S. government that precipitated this investigation. If we had any other information that we received on anyone else our drug squad would have checked into that as well.”
The U.S. wants the trio extradited on the charges after they were indicted by a federal grand jury in May following an 18-month investigation by American police into the sale of marijuana seeds on the Internet and by mail, said Sullivan.
Rod Benson, the special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Agency in Seattle, told the news conference that Emery showed “overwhelming arrogance and abuse of the rule of law,” which he said “will no longer be on display or tolerated.”
“The message here is clear,” he said, “those engaged in the cultivation, and trafficking of illegal drugs will eventually pay a steep price.”
[…] The store that was raided, named Toker’s Bowl, sells pot paraphernalia and pot-growing literature and the smell of marijuana often wafts through the premises.
Several people gathered outside the store to protest the raid, many holding anti-American signs.
[…] It asks police to seize cash and receipts, client lists and other records identifying purchasers of goods from Emery, and employee records, including applications for employment. It also asks for business and company incorporation documents, leases, rental agreements, computers, hard drives, diskettes and CD-ROMS.
