If the state-owned, state-run, taxpayer funded (to the tune of in excess of one BILLION dollars of taxpayer cash per year) CBC can feature “Soshmooki” (or whatever it’s called) and other mindless word games and time-wasters for adults and kids on their multi-gazillion-dollar web site at my expense in order to compete against the likes of me and other citizens who are trying to make a go of it, I can do it on my web site too! With more of my own cash! I love freedom!
Thanks to PTBC reader Richard from Kingston for sending this along. He watched a show on the “History” Channel last week about a convicted killer from Saskatchistan named Colin Thatcher, and told me about it. I’ve turned it into a li’l brain teaser!
Ready? OK. (It’s very exciting—or your money back!)
See if you can guess the political affiliation of the murderer portrayed in this “History” Channel special presentation.
Hint:
The name of the big presentation was….
Was he:
(a) a killer somehow related to a conservative party?
(b) a guy related to a liberal party?
(c) a socialist or communist
If you guessed (a), you’d be a genius!
Now, I’m not sure if the “History” Channel mentioned it because luckily I was busy doing something more useful—snipping my toe nails—when this show aired, but actually, Thatcher was a member of the PROGRESSIVE Conservative Party in Saskchistan (a place that I call “a little bit of the Soviet Union right here in Canada!”); and in actual historic fact, he was a Liberal Party member—and first elected as a Liberal—until he defected to the less socialist Progressive Conservative liberals and then quit. I’d say he’s anything BUT “conservative”. In fact I’d say he’s clearly and inarguably a LIBERAL. But then I’m not high on crack.
And just because they’re called the “History” Channel, who cares about stupid “history” anyway? For example, the state-owned, state-run CBC still portrays itself as a fair and balanced and objective outfit after all these years.
EXTRA CRIME STORIES HERE:
As with every single thing in Canada—citizens and private enterprise alike—the “history” series here was in one way or another funded by and/or supported by Canadian taxpayer cash, through another of the 8,000 federal government agencies or “corporations” or bureaus or committees.
In this case, I found that the “Crime Stories” series, of which this exquisitely accurately named offering was but one episode, was distributed by Telefilm Canada—a state-owned, state-run outfit. With the support of the Canadian Television Fund, which is financed by what they call “the Canadian government” but which is actually you the taxpayer; And the National Film Board of Canada, which I think is in charge or boring Canadians with their own tax dollars —dollars which have been robbed from them in what some crime experts call “the perfect crime”.
