More and more, I’m finding quotes and passages in the media that reflect in a joyously identical way, my/our speech patterns and thoughts when it comes to Canada’s politics. See how this Edmonton Sun (Sun Media Corp) lead editorial sounds ProudToBeCanadian-ish…
The sudden settlement of the CBC lockout is as hilarious as it is sad.
Our troubled country’s so-called national broadcaster, which sucks up $930 million in tax money every year, locked out 5,000 members of the Canadian Media Guild seven weeks ago. And the nation collectively yawned.
Oh sure, the CBC’s “friends,” made up largely of left-wing lobby groups and arts elite, went to work with their like-minded comrades in Canada’s left-wing media.
But for vast numbers of Canadians – those who the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is supposedly mandated to reflect and represent – that lack of regular CBC radio and TV programming was a non-event.
The CBC phone lines were not jammed by irate Canadians demanding the return of David Suzuki or the Ideas program.
That’s mainly because this expensive bauble has long since stopped being a viable and credible purveyor of Canadian mainstream and populist culture. Instead, it has deteriorated into little more than a public relations machine for the Ottawa Liberals’ view of the country. Canadians spotted the fraud long ago and have voted with their channel changers.
With one glaring exception.
[… and you can click to read the glaring exception, there! (30 seconds) …]
Even if we aren’t the inventor of these plain-speaking right thoughts, we are at the very least making it easier for others who share our true blue conservative feelings and attitudes to express them more easily, and more often. That, my friends, is what you call your Conservative Groundswell. But more on that at another time.
