Former (Democratic) Presidential candidate Howard (“screech”) Dean has won his bid to become Chairman of the Party.
The Washington Times puts it succinctly:
The former Vermont governor promised to learn how Democrats can communicate positions more effectively.
Dean says that no one is “pro-abortion,” but “we are the party in favor of allowing women to make up their own minds about their health care.”
And Democrats are not for “gay marriage,” but “we are the party that has always believed in equal rights under the law for all people,” he says.
There. Now that’s effectively communicating something! I’m just not sure what!
In the New York Times, of course, they simplify matters more. Quoting Dean:
“People will vote for Democratic candidates in Texas and Utah and West Virginia if we knock on their door, introduce ourselves and tell them what we believe.”
Who knew communication was where they went wrong lo these many years? Here I thought it was what they were communicating. Silly me.
