Good economic news? Find it on page F-39 under headline “No Recession Yet But We’re Still Trying!”

Headline in news:  Dow up 700 points for the month.  Seven – zero – zero.  No, not down.  Up.  That’s a 5% gain in a month.  Also:  U.S. economy expands—grows—not shrinks—grows—no “recession”—in first quarter of the year.  That’s the hard science, the hard facts.  The real news.  Important stuff.  Which is why it’s the big news headlines today.

Oh sorry let me start again.

No such headlines exist in any liberal-left mainstream media today.

You’d think it would be big news, because liberals and their media have been making big daily news about the pretend recession and have been pressing hard for a real U.S. recession and have been trash-talking the economy to the best of their ability even in the face of reality, for approximately since the exact date Republican George W. Bush was elected; and in Canada since the exact date Conservative Stephen Harper was elected.

No luck as yet, despite the odds like 9/11 and the war on terrorist jihad, etc.  Sorry libs.  Maybe next quarter.  Actually it will take two successive quarters for a recession.  So maybe in the fall/winter.  Keep trying.  I know you will.  (U.S. election in November!)

EXTRA:

Sampling of news headlines today:

Stocks dip with investors flummoxed over Fed (AP)
Economy grows by only 0.6 percent in 1st quarter of 2008 (AP)
CNNMoney:  Wall Street wilts after rate cut

…. and in contradistinction, from Foxnews.com:

What Recession?
GDP posts modest but surprising gain

Nation’s economy posts better-than-expected 0.6 percent growth despite sinking housing market, credit problems…
