And that, he said, is why the liberal-left government of Paul Martin won’t lower corporate tax rates.
That makes sense, huh?
OTTAWA (CP) – Finance Minister Ralph Goodale says he doesn’t trust the Conservatives to support corporate tax cuts and won’t introduce the tax-cut legislation for now.
He said the cuts were planned to take effect in 2008, leaving the government time to act. “We’ve got ample time to bring them forward to make sure that they are delivered as promised,” Goodale said outside the Commons.
“In the meantime I’m not going to contribute to destabilizing the House of Commons or causing a premature election.”
Goodale said the Conservatives’ position in favour of corporate tax cuts does not convince him they would pass the necessary legislation.
“Would you trust them after what they did in the spring? For heaven’s sake, give your head a shake. There’s nothing to be trusted in that gaggle of silly people.”
I’d like to be appointed Crown Prince of the Gaggle of Silly People. I hereby anoint myself as such.
Let’s review: tax rates won’t be lowered by the Liberals because of the Conservative Party, somehow, which isn’t in power, and which stakes half its reputation on the principle of lowering taxes and pretty much always has throughout its history in Canada, which stems from the very first day of “Canada”.
And we’re supposed to buy this nonsense? Well, yes we are and you know what? Millions of Canadians buy this kind of nonsense every single day from the Liberals.
