This is the same extreme left-winger, Tim Louis, who, in celebration of his victory last election, proudly wore a Che Guevara (Marxist communist, murderer, Fidel Castro accomplice) t-shirt to what I presume he’d have called “the people’s celebration” victory party. This was a gesture about which nobody in the room batted an eye. (Google Tim Louis Che Guevara just for amusement!)
His party, “COPE”, is the NDP-backed party that Vancouver’s current mayor, Larry Campbell ran under. As you may remember, Larry Campbell is the mayor who, during the last federal election, called Canadian conservatives “Barbarians”. That’s me and my wife. “Barbarians”. And he’s the same Larry Campbell who was just appointed to the Canadian Senate by your Liberal Prime Minister Paul (“we lead the world”) Martin. The Senator thinks conservatives—good Canadians —are “Barbarians”.
And just to close the circle for you, NDP MP Libby Davies was also a Vancouver COPE councillor, as was former NDP candidate, and a just announced NDP hopeful in this coming election, the jewel thief and self-described recovered but formerly mentally ill NDP MP Svend Robinson.
COPE councillor backs city-owned brothel
Vancouver should open a not-for-profit brothel to help drug-addicted prostitutes, Committee of Progressive Electors Coun. Tim Louis said Wednesday.
Speaking to The Vancouver Sun’s editorial board as part of a civic election tour, Louis said he’s in favour of retiring Mayor Larry Campbell’s idea of considering a red light district to help protect “survival” sex trade workers.
When asked if he thought the city should open its own brothel, Louis said yes, as long as the city doesn’t make any money at it.
“Many people involved in survival sex are drug addicted, and it is a crime that we don’t have treatment on demand, so there would be many benefits of a brothel run on a break-even basis,” he said.
[…] COPE Coun. David Cadman was less supportive, saying he would want to study the idea of setting up a city-run brothel, and would want a lot of public dialogue. But he objected to the city being involved on a for-profit basis.
“The city should not run a brothel. That’s not the city’s business. I don’t believe it’s the city’s business to live off the avails of prostitution,” he said.
And the saving grace award goes to mayoral candidate Sam Sullivan, who is running the “right-wing” campaign for mayor (in Vancouver, “right-wing” is “liberal-left”):
Sam Sullivan, the mayoral candidate for the centre-right Non-Partisan Association, said he was appalled by Louis’s comments.
“The goal should be to help these women get out of the survival sex trade, not keep them in it,” he said. “I’m running to be mayor to help people, not to get into the business of being a pimp.”
