Damn right Harper’s angry! Whoever isn’t, is missing the point.

I read the same articles at the sometimes absurdly biased Globe and Mail that Toronto Sun columnist Linda Williamson read and thought much the same thing:  Here comes the giant pro-liberal-left media machine, right on cue.  As soon as election talk turns serious, and whenever Conservatives look like they’re even odds at winning even a minority, the well-oiled (greasy, actually) liberal media spin machine starts rumbling away.

Then the state-run media (the CBC division of the Liberal Party) confirms it, just for the truly stupid.  Then people fall for it, and vote accordingly.  Go figure.  No really—please do try to figure it.

Harper has plenty of reasons to be angry

HOW DID I miss it? Apparently, while I was spellbound last week by tales of payoffs and intimidation at the Gomery inquiry and parliamentary paralysis in Ottawa, the Leader of the Opposition turned into a fire-breathing hellion.

Stephen Harper turned into something out of Stephen King.

He’s got an anger management problem, haven’t you heard? And that just won’t do.

Or so says the great grey Globe and Mail, so it must be true.

Yesterday’s Globe, astonishingly, devoted not one but three prominent articles—a long analytical story and two big-name columns—to the question of Harper’s supposed anger. A caricature showed him in a pit bull collar, foaming at the mouth.

Yes, that Stephen Harper. “Experts” were quoted, gravely warning that Canadians prefer their politicians not to get too hot under the collar, and that Harper’s fury could backfire.

So it begins. And just when you thought attempts to demonize the Conservatives couldn’t get any more ridiculous.

I mean, just a year ago, the big knock against Harper was that he had no personality. He was a policy wonk; too bland, too cold, unable to connect with people. He himself joked that he couldn’t become an accountant because he didn’t have enough charisma.

And now he’s a loose cannon, a scary right-wing ranter with uncontrollable rage? Please!
