More Danny Williams becoming unhinged?
This story is making its way across the blogosphere [here | here], but more importantly, not across the ever so fair and balanced and objective liberal-left news media in Canada, which is busy working on a tremendous scoop about Harper being “mean” and “wearing a sweater”.
Good on Robert Fife for reporting it and CTV Newsnet for carrying this story, which has of course summarily DIED, notwithstanding its importance and Liberal Frenchman Stephane Dion aligning himself with Danny Williams.

WHILE WE’RE AT IT:
Maybe this should be reported too. Nah! That’d bear a semblance of fair and balanced reporting!
Dion needs money badly.
Anyone got a dime to spare so he doesn’t blow yet another Elections Canada deadline?Posted: September 12, 2008, 3:35 PM by Jonathan Kay
The endless saga of Stéphane Dion’s efforts to pay off his 2006-era Liberal leadership campaign debt continues. The story’s the same as it was last time around: another blown Elections Canada deadline. You’d think a scandal-hungry national media would be interested in the story. But apparently, they’re too focused on the scatological web animations produced by some teenage Tory war-room computer jockey to notice that the leader of the opposition is in stubborn financial thrall to private financiers.
According to the original deal Dion had worked out with Elections Canada, he was supposed to pay back his $690K debt (owed to TD Canada trust and a variety of individual creditors) by June, 2008. But the cash-strapped leader couldn’t, so he asked for an extension till December, 2009, which was granted by Elections Canada last month, on condition that Dion commit himself to a fixed repayment schedule.
The first payment, comprising “1/3 of principal, plus interest” (or $230,000) became due on September 3, 2008. That date came and went, with no announcement about whether the money had been paid.
Unlike other 2006 Liberal leadership contestants, Dion also apparently blew his Sept. 2 deadline for filing a document known as an “interim Contestant’s Leadership Campaign Return (EC 20192)” to the Chief Electoral Officer. This comes after blowing two other filings dates, in June and August.
Seems to me this is a little bit more important than avian-themed web cartoons, no?
