Just about 900 words in a big news story about the large numbers of children aged 14 and 15 having sex these days (13 per cent of girls surveyed have had sex by the age of 14 or 15). And of course it goes on and on about condom usage…
[…]And despite a decades-old education push, many young people still shy away from using condoms: Just under four in 10 sexually active 15-to-24-year-olds didn’t use a condom the last time they had sex, a study suggests. Those who reported having sex with only one person in the past year were less likely to report having used a condom.
“We’re not getting through with the condom message,” said Jane Wilde, nurse, educator and clinic supervisor at Options for Sexual Health in Prince Rupert, B.C. […]
… and stopping the spread of disease, and all that good stuff.
But let’s play a little game. Let’s count the number of times the word “abortion” appears in the big story. Wow. Not once. And yet there’s over 100,000 taxpayer-funded abortions in the country each and every year.
Tired of that game? Let’s count the number of times the word “abstinence” pops up in the story. Wow. Not once.
Shocka!
It’s as if those words are now completely irrelevant in this country. We’re “progressive”, and those words were “progressed” out of style. It’s all about the orgasm now. Still though, I’d have thought someone would mention the words at least once.
I noticed as I was watching the state-run news media today—the CBC Newsworld division of the Liberal Party—that of course they covered the story, but for their expert fair and balanced and informative analysis they asked none other than a representative from abortion enabler Planned Parenthood to inform us all about the facts of life these days in liberal-led Canada. And the thrust of the chat wasn’t about abstinence or abortions. It was on better education of the use of condoms and having sex safely. At least that’s what I got out of it.
Vote liberal. Sigh.
