Conservative-tolerant Toronto Sun is increasing its popularity.

Fox News Channel is the clear leader in cable news, beating CNN by a country mile in ratings.

As conservativegal wrote this morning in her Headline News, Liberal mainstream newspapers are taking a big hit in readership not just in liberal-centric Toronto, but in the United States too.

The conservative-tolerant New York Post today surpassed the also conservative-tolerant Daily News and the über liberal Bush-hating Washington Post to become the 5th largest newspaper in America after bucking the national trend and chalking up a whopping 5.1 percent jump in circulation.

The über liberal Los Angeles Times reported that daily circulation fell 8% to 775,766. Sunday dropped 6% to 1,172,005.

The über liberal Nancy Pelosi-lovin’ San Francisco Chronicle was down. Daily dropped 5.3% to 373,805 and Sunday fell 7.3% to 432,957.

The hideously liberal-biased bible to liberals New York Times lost 3.5% daily to 1,086,798 and 3.5% on Sunday to 1,623,697. Its sister publication, the liberal Boston Globe, reported decreases in daily circulation, down 6.7% to 386,415 and Sunday, down 9.9% to 587,292.

The über liberal Bush-hating Washington Post lost daily circulation, which was down 3.3% to 656,297 while Sunday declined 3.6% to 930,619.

Over at CNN, conservative Glenn Beck’s good hourly show’s ratings have risen 41 percent in the latest tally, bucking trends galore.

Conservative talk radio is huge in the U.S. while liberals largely stutter.

Only newspaper in tough Toronto market to post gains in overall paid readership

The Toronto Sun has bucked a newspaper trend of declining paid circulation, according to figures released yesterday.

The Sun made the biggest gains in paid weekday circulation of Toronto’s four major newspapers in the six-month period ended Sept. 30, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulation, a publishing industry group.

It was also the only newspaper to record gains in overall paid circulation.

The Sun showed a year-over-year gain of 9.2% in papers purchased for 50% or more of the full price. That compares to a 3% rise at the Globe and Mail, and a drop of 11.1% at the Toronto Star and a plunge of 13.1% at the National Post.

Monday-to Friday total paid circulation at the Sun hit 197,453 for the six-month period, up 0.7% from 2005.

By contrast, overall weekday paid circulation fell by 1.2% at the Star, 0.1% at the Globe and 10% at the Post.

[…] The Sun’s Saturday total paid circulation hit 153,129, up 3.7%. That compares to a 1.4% dip at the Star, a 0.7% slide at the Globe and a 10.7% skid at the National Post.

Sunday Sun paid circulation edged down slightly by 0.1% for total paid circulation of 341,265. The Toronto Star, the only other Toronto-area major daily to publish on Sunday, posted a 0.5% dip in paid circulation.
