In the House today, the very much divided liberal-left has once again defeated attempts to raise the age of consent in Canada from 14 to 16. In some cases, the age is actually as low as 12. Liberals will be happy to know that Canada does seem to “lead the world” in this area, or nearly anyway, as most sober countries see the danger this poses to our young boys and girls, the criminal activity that it breeds (as pimps from around the world know), and so much more (to say nothing of morality and family values and so on).
I blogged about this earlier this month. Among other things I said:
…Having sex with 14-year-old little girls (and boys) is legal in Canada.
[…] Even consensual activity with those under 14 but over 12 may not be an offence if the accused is under 16 and less than two years older than the complainant. […]Because that’s how liberals think. The philosophy of the liberal-left and vision for “their Canada” (as their campaign slogan goes) is manifestly: If it feels good, do it; and the younger the better!
The Lethbridge, Alberta MP had the support of his fellow Conservatives, as well as several members of the Liberal Party.
“I support it basically on the important principle that people need to be protected,” Liberal MP Maurizo Bevilacqua told CTV News ahead of the vote.
And Liberal MP Dan McTeague agreed, criticizing the existing law for doing little to protect young teenagers from sexual exploitation.
“If two young people are engaged, that’s fine, but my concern is when a 40-year-old and a 14-year-old is involved,” McTeague said.
But in the end, their support was not enough to carry the bill.
Federal Justice Minister Irwin Cotler was among the proposed law’s most outspoken critics. He says Casson’s legislation—if it became the law of the land—would not only do little to stop predators, it would also criminalize so-called “puppy love.”
And that’s a step he was not prepared to take.
No no. Can’t take that chance.
These people are literally off their rockers. Election please. And in this instance I can literally say with full honesty and great confidence and in the total absence of any leftist-sounding political correct clichÃ
