This ties in well with the recent news (a repeat of facts already known for over a year) about the fact that the conservative Republican-led United States is doing a MUCH better job of reducing pollution than liberal-left-led Kyoto-bound Canada. (There’s a thread about it in the Discussion Forum)
I’m listening to a radio show (Bill Goode, liberal) and his guest is the federal minister of industry, David Emerson, Liberal.
They were talking about conservation and pollution, etc.
Here’s a very rough transcript—just going from my head and my ears:
Emerson: [boastfully] …for example I personally drive a hybrid car in Ottawa to save fuel….
Bill: Is it your own car or a government car?
Emerson: Well actually it’s a government car—it’s owned by the government.
Bill: What do you drive at home then?
Emerson: Well I drive a BMW.
Bill: A big eight cylinder engine or a six cylinder?
Emerson: Well it’s a eight—but see it’s an older model [which makes it even worse, not better]
Bill: See I traded my eight in for a six…
