It’s Christmas vacation time, and if my eggnog has to be “lite”, and apparently it does, then my blogging can be too.
We actually tried to shop for Christmas presents on Friday evening. We got to the mall after our 15 minute drive, and drove around the parking lot for about 20 minutes. Then we just gave up and headed home. It was a pretty quiet trip home. Even with the radio playing Christmas songs, it wasn’t very “festive”.
And are ya like me? Have you heard that stupid Jingle Bell Rock enough times? And what’s up with that Felice Navidad? The same words over and over!
Here’s the words: I poop you not:
Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Prospero Ano y Felicidad.
Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Prospero Ano y Felicidad.
I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas
I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas
I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas
From the bottom of my heart.
This is not good tunage for parking rage purposes. (Feliz THIS, José!)
I’ve determined that I like Ave Maria the best. It was written in 1825 by Franz Schubert—back when the snow was REALLY deep! Click here to listen to Celine Dion’s version (MP3) from her “Celine – These Are Special Times” Christmas album. (I’m hoping that in the spirit of Christmas and Christianity and capitalism and Canadianity—four things I know Celine believes in—Celine and Sony Music Canada won’t sue me for copyright violation.)
Here’s another version by the Fischer Choir.
Anyway, on the way home from our Friday night parking adventure and festival of swearing and rage, there were apparently three traffic accidents—one involving a train. So we found our parking spot —unfortunately it was right there on the dang highway. So it took about three hours to do all that and get home, giftless and exhausted.
You can barely shop on the weekend even when it’s not Christmas time. So we don’t even muse about that. But, over the weekend, I had to go to the state-run liquor store to buy some booze from the highly paid unionized government officials with bad attitudes, and the mall was so busy it took about 15 minutes to park. But I persisted (because, you know, it was for a good purpose) and finally got to park, and I got my goods.
That’s my report.
Thank you.
