There’s myriad ways to be positive, and to help the poor folks in desperate need of help—right now, today.
One of the unique ways that I’ve seen positive Canadians helping was from the great writer/columnist Mark Steyn (yes, a Canadian!), who announced that the proceeds of all the sales of his fast-selling books would go directly to Mercy Corps, which is apparently Mark Steyn’s preferred charity. Not just the “profits” from each book purchase—the whole shot—the whole purchase price. I jumped on that one immediately, knowing that the full Canadian dollar purchase amount (C$29.95 in my case) would go to a worthy aid organization to help the people in need down south, while they send me a fantastic writer’s great book!
That deal ended on Thursday night (didn’t even have time to make a blog entry about it) but I’m just mentioning it to give other people—people who might have something to offer—ideas. Mark Steyn reports that he raised a five-figure amount of cash. Fantastic!
I also gave to the Canadian Red Cross of course, and I’m going to give to a Christian organization too (World Vision) because they always do fantastic work everywhere and generally have an excellent track record of approximately 2,000 years or so, give or take.
Last week I set up a page simply listing several organizations to choose from.
