Canadians chose a private enterprise news option

imageCanadians chose the privately-owned CTV network over the state-run media, the CBC, for their election night coverage last night.

According to their news release:

Once again, Canadians made CTV their broadcaster of choice for last night’s historic Federal Election. Nielsen Media Research Canada confirms that CTV drew the most viewers of any network with 1.48 million viewers.

When combined with the privately-owned Global Television Network viewership, the audience for citizen-owned election coverage was nearly double that of the state-run media’s.

Nobody in Canada but me asks anybody why it is that the state competes against its own citizens for income and profit; nor why there is any need at all whatsoever for state-run media to compete against citizens with its multi-billion-dollar state-owned facilities and official state-paid far-left opinion makers and leftist muckrakers.

It’s rude to question Godless socialism in Canada and immediately takes you off the cocktail circuit and has you branded as “an extreme right-wing nutbar” in lieu of intelligent response.

I imagine the private enterprising citizen-owned networks would have had a vastly larger audience last night if they didn’t have to compete against their own leftist ideological government for viewers.  Warning: this is not based on that liberal-left Kyoto everything we do is bad unless it’s done by left-wing government model, and I’m not a socialist, so I may need to be educated by the far-left liberal know-it-alls on why the state needs to be involved in national news and entertainment in competition with Canadian citizens (who do it better in any case) and who do it quite willingly for profit.

On the other hand, I bet if I watch the CBC, I’ll find that education daily, so please don’t duplicate it here in my privately-owned and operated space, paid for with my after-tax cash.
