Apparently the Ruskies flew one of their antique communist-era bombers toward Canadian airspace on the eve of somewhat like-minded Barack Obama’s visit to rather like-minded Canada, but were intercepted by the nearly state-of-the-art-in-the-80s American-made Canadian F-18 fighter aircraft.
One can’t be sure if the USSR/cold-war-imitating Russians were just excited to see Obama, what with him apparently on their side economically, now; or if they were once again testing what’s left of our Canadian mettle; or whether Liberal nob Michael Ignatieff, The Nation of Quebec, Jack Layton, women with hairy armpits, “artists”, unions, liberal-leftist media, teachers, or the most progressive of the conservatives (called “Tories”) were in charge here. Rumor has it they concluded “all of the above, in some sort of funky ‘coalition’”. “коалиция” (coalition) is what they were heard to say over the Marconi radios in defence HQ in Olivia Chow’s riding.
I’m sure the airforce pilots were doing their usual exemplary work with the highest level of skill and professionalism. I know they aren’t hung up on the politics, as others are, thank God, and just want to protect our country, as is their calling.
In any case, thankfully we haven’t listened too terribly much to the likes of the you’ve got to be kidding party’s Jack Layton and his “life partner” Olivia Chow and their peacenik cabal of left-wing extremists like comrade Libby Davies, or we might be conducting chat sessions over tea (probably a Russian blend) and Swedish buns between Russian-speaking social workers in Toronto and the pilots of the Russian bomber. First topic: Losing in Afghanistan: How To. (Step one: surrender!)
