I wrote recently about how even mentioning the “NDP” sends international business people and their shareholders packing.
Here’s a good example, taken from an actual headline and news item in the Vancouver Sun on Thursday Sepember 23/04 (my bolding in the story to highlight key points), which is not exactly endearing to business, or any sensible people, for that matter:

RICHMOND – B.C. New Democrat Leader Carole James gave a preview of her party’s election platform Wednesday, saying an NDP government would scrap many of the business-friendly policies the Liberals have implemented in the last three years.
The New Democrats would abolish the controversial $6-an-hour training wage within 60 days of taking office, she said.
The party would also do away with changes to child labour rules that make it easier for minors to work in family-run businesses, she added.
