Liberal Paul Martin makes much of his fallacy that the Stephen Harper Conservatives would “walk away” from the Kelowna agreement made with the first nations people late last year in BC. He repeats that guff in between his efforts to FREAK CANADIANS OUT by saying things resembling: your daughters will be forced to have sex with old men and then have their babies in private clinics ….in Iraq, if Stephen Harper’s neo-con Republican-style right-wing evangelical Jesus ’n Bush-lovin’ party wins on Monday.
But BC Liberal premier Gordon Campbell (a liberal, through and through, though I like him —I know!), seems to have a different opinion completely.
Perhaps he’s more firmly based in reality. No make that I’m sure. And one of the major groups at the meeting, the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples, had a news conference last week announcing that they support the Conservative Party. Well that’s odd given how Martin says other things.
Here’s the Congress’s concluding remarks which I offer you because apparently the typewriter ribbon in the old mainstream media typewriters is out:
Our Conclusion
In the final analysis, it is important to look at what has been offered through the response of the Conservative Party: A willingness to listen and act, a recognition that our peoples’ needs are real, an indication of the steps they intend on taking in response to them, and a realization that our constituency represents the majority of Aboriginal peoples in Canada. As a not-for-profit organization that seeks to remedy the real needs of real people in real and meaningful ways, we believe that it is important to keep partisan politics in perspective. The Conservative response offers CAP and its constituents a promising and respectful alternative to the status quo. We are committed to working with Stephen Harper’s team to address Aboriginal poverty and to build hope for our peoples.
We do not seek to influence your vote, for that is the cornerstone of your personal freedom in a democratic nation. We ask you only to consider the issues, analyze the options and to act — in full recognition of your rights — and vote accordingly.

BC Liberal Premier Campbell’s comments were reported briefly on CKNW radio in Vancouver yesterday. I looked for the big news of this apparent break in ranks with like-minded Liberal Party counterparts in Team Martin/Hargrove in Ottawa, but was unable to find any such news. Perhaps it wasn’t anti-conservative enough for the liberal mainstream media.
So I made a tiny recording of the tiny story.
