The source I used for re-education about the left-wing Basque “ETA” terrorists warned:
…Prior to the Al Qaeda terrorist attacks of September 11 2001 in New York, there seemed to be a tendency among the international media to refer to ETA in neutral (and occasionally even sympathetic) terms, describing the organization as a “separatist movement”…
As if on cue (except that it’s a post-9/11 world for all but liberals), CTV.ca reports:
… Bilbao denies ever being a member of the separatist group ETA…
And just now on CTV Newsnet, “news” anchor Dan Matheson called it “Spain’s armed Basque separatist group—it’s called ETA”. He later conceded that the group has killed hundreds of people and that “it is classified as a terrorist group by the United States and by the European Union” —but inexplicably, he didn’t mention Canada.
For the record, not that liberal media types will care, the ETA is officially considered a terrorist organization by Canada (since 2003).
By the way CTV, similarly, the Palestinian Authority is dominated by terrorists, and Hamas is considered a terrorist organization, by Canada.
The Parti Quebecois and the Bloc Quebecois are each “a separatist group”. Liberals are in “denial”. Hope that helps.
UPDATE:
CTV’s Mike Duffy of the “Mike Duffy Live” liberal hour called the arrested fella a “Basque separatist terrorist (suspected)”. Apparently Duffy needs to refer to his liberal media style guide.
