Australians get it.

Many Canadians don’t know U.S. Vice president Dick Cheney was in Australia this past week thanking them for their help in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Many Canadians (I mean of course the liberals only) will be inclined to write me one of their classy and sophisticated emails condemning me for even mentioning it, demanding, “what has this got to do with Canada?”“i dun thought yer name waere prowdTobeeA Canadan”“what are you – OBSESSED with the damn Americans?????!!!!!^^%%%?”“why don’t you move to texes”… and so on.

But it’s because Canadians (at least the liberals herein) simply don’t get it.  The Australians get it.

It wasn’t just this picture that PTBC reader Maureen found and sent to me that reminded me of the relative sophistication and maturity of the Australians…

…it was also words like these in the Sidney Telegraph:

Perhaps its key message was that, for Australians, standing by your mate when he’s in a fight are not just the words of a song but a way of life.

Apparently it’s a “Canadian value” (™ Chretien/Martin/Dion/media/liberal-left generally) to hate America and/or constantly feign glib superiority and righteousness over the Americans, especially using that increasingly famous liberal-induced “herd” mentality of stupidity that liberal Canadians are willingly embracing.  I honestly believe many liberals in Canada believe they are of a superior race to the Americans.

Cheney a good mate to us

By Greg Sheridan

UNITED States Vice-President Dick Cheney came to Sydney to thank John Howard for his support in Iraq and Afghanistan and the war on terror generally.

Although the Vice-President has relatively low approval ratings in the US and is regarded as an ultra-hawk, he is an extremely effective political leader at all levels.

Despite his claimed unpopularity, he went a long way to charming all the Australian audiences he met, with perfectly pitched messages.

His Sydney speech – the main public event of his visit – was particularly well crafted and delivered.

Once again let me remind readers that Canada should be in the fight in Iraq as well as Afghanistan, and anywhere else the war on terror and against tyranny and brutal dictatorships and nutbars needs to be fought.  And until we do, we’re neither “standing by our mate” nor even standing up for Canada and our actual Canadian values.
