Apparently Not The News: 2006 a banner year for retailers; buried by media

The liberal media has its own world view, and they drive the agenda upon which it is based relentlessly. 

Conservatives are in power, and that makes reporting news a lot easier for them because so much can be ignored or thrown onto page C-13 or buried in, for example, the leftist Toronto Star’s “Business” section, which I’m pretty sure has nearly no readers (their readers favoring the “Arts and Feelings” section, or whatever, I’m betting). 

If Liberals were in power, this good news story would naturally be on the front page.  (Just for reference, if the you’ve got to be kidding party were in power, I wouldn’t be writing this from here, I’d be in California or Florida or Texas or Arizona; and the Toronto Star would be a division of the state-run CBC; and this story wouldn’t be occurring.)

(NOTE:  Canada Press and the Toronto Star editors are apparently so woebegone about this news that they couldn’t even spell-check their article).

Banner year for retail sales

OTTAWA – A new study says Canada’s retailers had their busiest year in nearly a decade in 2006, and it was consumers in the three westernmost provinces who increased their spending the most.

Styatistics [SIC] Canada says retailers sold $389.6 billion worth of goods and services in 2006, up 6.4 per cent from 2005, the highest rate of growth in nine years.

Consumers in Alberta led the pack with a 15.6 per cent increase in retail spending, the third straight year Alberta’s growth rate was the highest in the country.

Alberta’s historic high is at least partly attributable to a 7.5 per cent increase in its average weekly wage rate and 4.8 per cent employment growth – both the highest in the country, while Alberta’s 3.4 per cent unemployment rate was the lowest in Canada…
