CTV liberalvision calls far-left-socialist think tank a “progressive” org.

UPDATED—see below

Just now, the liberalvision CTV Newsnet channel ran a “news” report on how the far, far-left Canadian Center for Policy Alternatives feel about the Harper Conservative GST tax cut.

The far-leftist group was introduced by anchor Kate Wheeler without warning us that they are a far, far left-wing socialist outfit, the way the liberal media routinely warn us when they speak of, say, the good normal Fraser Institute or National Citizens Coalition (they’re conservative or right-wing or even far-right-wing, as all Canadians know extremely well by now!  We dun been proprally edumacated by the libral meedia!).

They “raise the alarm” about the tax cuts, as the story begins, as if doing so on behalf of all Canadians with an aura that makes it appear as some sort of a liberalvision public service announcement

The CTV then explains how the tax cuts, in the minds of the socialists (whom they call the think tank), will “cost” the treasury billions of dollars.  In other words, letting us keep our own damn cash—our after tax cash—in our own pockets instead of handing it over to the state when we buy goods, is to be seen as a “cost”, in the minds of socialists.

This is Wheeler right after telling us the CCPA is a “progressive” outfit.

.

They think the state owns our cash by default.  Just so we’re clear, this is a basic communist tenet.  (Think of Liberal Party “strategist” Scott Reid and the gaffe in which he let a little of their hidden agenda slip out on national TV, when he said giving us our own money back would result in us spending it on “beer and popcorn” —a gaffe which let slip exactly how liberals think.)

Wheeler then concluded the “news” story by helpfully informing us that the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives is “a non-profit research organization with a PROGRESSIVE [her emphasis] point of view.”

“Progressive”.  Oh my.

I do believe the “Alternatives” in the name refers to socialism.  They are an overtly socialist outfit.  The “alternative” means an end to the free-market capitalist system as we know it—the one that built our country into one of the greatest and richest in the world.  You want to call that “progressive”, Mizz Wheeler, as I’m sure they want you to do?  Go crazy.

I’m here to help explain the truth and correct the record.

UPDATE (Jan 14 2:32 PM PST):

On CTV Newsnet’s Mike Duffy Live, they’re about to interview a socialist from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.  Let’s see how they do with some live blogging…..

— The tease to the piece did not include the words “left-wing”, socialist, or communist.

— Nope —the intro to the piece did not classify them as socialists or far-left-wingers.  They just introduced the guest as a normal guy with a normal point of view.

Aha!  In a possible attempt at trying to balance the story that the guy is telling, mid stream, which is a tale of doom and gloom owing to our capitalist system I think (I wasn’t listening, on purpose), the fill-in anchor Graham Richardson described the guy—to his face—as a “you’re known as a left-winger or a progressive”“or whatever you want to call it”, and that it would be quite normal for him to find nothing good in what the Harper Conservatives would do.  Was that so hard?!

—The anchor signed off the story by saying that they tried to contact Finance Minister Jim Flaherty for comment but he was unavailable.  Shocka that he’d be unavailable to respond to the socialist propagandist.

UPDATE #2—2:57 PM PST:
Just noticed that at the state-run left-wing CBC.ca web site, their story puts it right up front in the second paragraph:

Flaherty’s comments came as a new report by the left-leaning Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA)

… as does CTV.ca’s story, which is irrationally and deceivingly in their “CANADA” section rather than their “POLITICS” section.
