What is this country Canada —Stupidland?
Go Reagan on ‘em. Fire these workers and replace them with the Army. You know, professionals with balls. Then train some new professionals with balls and large guns to take over. That’s what I’d do. But then I’m sensible about these things, and I care about Canada more than unions.
Fugitive warning from U.S. sparks mass walkout of Canadian border guards in B.C.
VANCOUVER – A warning from U.S. authorities that an armed man wanted for murder might be heading to Canada caused guards at all four major B.C. border crossings to walk off the job Sunday creating traffic chaos for thousands of travellers.
The problem began around 2 p.m., when a notice was given to border guards that an “armed and dangerous” man wanted on a homicide warrant might try to enter the country.
At 2:15 p.m., 10 guards at Huntingdon crossing located in Abbotsford walked off the job, citing their right to refuse dangerous work under the federal Labour Code.
About two hours later, guards at Aldergrove, Peace Arch

and Pacific Highway border crossings also abandoned their posts.
Many of the border crossings were temporarily closed as managers scrambled to take the place of the 50 missing guards.
Late Sunday afternoon, an electronic sign along the Interstate 5 Highway informed northbound drivers: “All crossing closed. Expect long delays.” […]
They couldn’t have just called the police to back them up? What is this—Stupidland?
And when the border guards get the guns they’ve been asking for —and the Conservative government has long said they’re getting them (contrary to liberals who are against that) — will their job be “not dangerous” anymore? Or will they all simply get retirement packages and the borders closed? I’m not sure I understand the mentality at play here.
