LifeSite questions Conservative spending on gay film festival

Answer:  Canada is stacked from top to bottom with liberals.  Liberal-leftist governments have stacked gov’t bureaucracies, gov’t departments and gov’t branches, gov’t committees, academia (all state-run), the state-run media (all Liberal appointees and all strictly controlled by the liberals working for the state), the judiciary, the Senate, and so on.  Even the titular head of our nation is a liberal appointed by a Liberal.

It should be absolutely no surprise that the Conservatives continue to do things that only a liberal-leftist government would do.  This “conservative” government is stuffed with liberals in every crack and crevice.  It will take years to right the balance despite the urgency to do so.

Now here’s LifeSite’s full question:

Why is the Conservative Government Wasting Taxpayer Dollars on “Queer” Film Festival?

By John-Henry Westen and Gudrun Schultz

VANCOUVER, August 29, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Conservative Government is supportive of fiscal restraint.  Yet, LifeSiteNews.com has learned that the Conservative Government nonetheless funded the 2006 Vancouver Queer Film Festival, which ran from August 17-27.

The festival’s sponsorship page lists the Department of Canadian Heritage as the offending federal government branch. (See the sponsorship page here: http://www.outonscreen.com/festival/2006/content/Sponsors/27/10 )

Dominique Collin, spokesperson for Canadian Heritage Minister Beverley Oda, told LifeSiteNews.com the Vancouver regional branch of the Heritage department conducted the funding allocation which consisted of $23,000.

Ginette Montreuil, regional manager with the Vancouver office, confirmed that the Conservative Government approved the Arts Presentation Canada funding for the 2006 Festival on March 27, 2006.

The festival line-up included films with titles such as “Deconstructing Crack Ho”, “Dyke After Dyke”, “I cum I”, “Lesbians On Ecstasy”, “Post-Porn & New Technologies Of Pleasure”, and “Toilet Sex In Canadian Cinema.”

Ms. Montreuil defended the decision to fund the festival, in an email response to LifeSiteNews, saying:

“The Vancouver Out on Screen Film and Video Society promotes the production and exhibition of media art which in some way relates to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-gendered (LGBT) communities…Through their Festival, the Society presents a wide range of culturally diverse media arts and attempts to bring the issues and experiences of the LGBT communities into the mainstream, fostering acceptance and understanding.”

In Canada, you can’t be conscious for more than three minutes without tripping over one of those Stalinist Liberal Party big government liberal government sponsorship and you can't live without the state program, program sponsorship logos which now permeates our entire Canadian existence —it’s now found in very facet of Canadian life, just as the liberal-left would have it.  It’s at the end of every single Canadian-made TV show or movie, at every festival, at every event in Canada, on most every government form we see (and there are dozens), and every government building…

I’ve previously proposed at least replacing that horrible logo and the horrible signal it sends with one more like the more honest one below, but ultimately, Canada should really not act like communist countries which strive to create the notion that citizens are completely incapable of doing anything on their own, without the aid of the benevolent state.

It’s particularly galling when it’s all about liberal-leftist social engineering.

I’ve previously suggested this as an immediate replacement

…but ultimately the state needs to get out of every crack and crevasse of our being.  Particularly butt cracks.
