When I wrote it I had no clue it would be so sadly prescient. Here it was:
And when I said “take the money and run,” it was really just a more general thing. You made the sale, take all your winnings, go home, and get set up for the next thing. And so I wasn’t specifically referring to the ten-million-dollar GoFundMe money that had been raised. I meant, you’ve made more points than you even set out to make, you’ve made a fool of left-wing media and politicians, so accept the win, and leave before the going gets hot and you lose the sale you already made.
I had no idea that later in the day (Friday), GoFundMe would decide to do the bidding of left-wing politicians and governments, as if they thought Canada was like North Korea and they had to obey Dear Leader and politicians with their unsubtle suggestions rote dictates to takes sides — their side.
Alas, I was wrong to not clearly foresee that happening. If I had, I could have more strongly warned the truckers to literally TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN. I mean this sort of thing happened to me only last year, when PayPal, for no reason that has ever been explained to me, suddenly stopped my access to my PTBC account and told me that they’d just go ahead and keep the money I had left in my account (note, it wasn’t quite TEN MILL). Only after a strenuous back and forth over a number of weeks and countless hours of frustration and stress, I finally managed to get my money the Hell out of there, and clearly, I will never use them for PTBC again, obviously, and I hope you don’t use them either. Fool me once, and all that. PTBC now uses STRIPE for user contributions, but I’m understandably leary even of them now.). You can’t fully trust any of these giant, woke, progressive-left tech companies, most of which rely more on Chinese business than ours anyway.
Anyway, I hope a bunch of good lawyers who believe in freedom will fight the fight that is obviously going to come after this egregious action. Seems Americans will once again lead Canada on this, as already I’ve seen multiple good signs emerge by the likes of the Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has promised to ask his attorney general to look into it, and others like Elon Musk expressing his dismay (and pointing out abject hypocrisy and fraud on the part of GoFundMe).
