Take the money and run

When I was a stockbroker there was a handy maxim I used to tell others to use if they wanted to be just like me —handsome and thin and lovable and super successful with great hair and teeth and an affable fellow writ large: When you’re talking to a client and trying to get him or her to invest in something, don’t forget to ask for the sale. Sounds weird, but the thing is, you tend to talk and talk about the benefits, trying and trying to get the party interested, but — and this really is a thing — lots of brokers or salespeople don’t then actually ask for the sale. So the client says, OK yeah thanks I’ll think about it and get back to you. Which they never do. Because you’re an idiot.

Or then if or when they do manage to get the sale, they tend to keep blathering on and on about the benefits and whatnot anyway, instead of simply taking their check, saying a polite thank you, goodbye, and leaving or hanging up the damned phone. This blathering-on syndrome — fishermen might call it dragging the net until the line snaps — has lost more sales than the “news” media advertising departments have over the past couple of years.

Take the money and run, in a word or four.

The truckers made the sale. They made utter fools out of the “news” media, causing them to damage themselves so severely with their counter-factual narrative and totally Orwellian gaslighting and propaganda (I’m not sure but I think this might just be the turning point where even Trudeau cultists and dipper socialists finally see their obvious perfidy). They made millions of people here and abroad think about the freedom they’ve lost, especially here in this country where it is really, seriously on the wane, not growing as it always should — an extremely dangerous direction for freedom to take at any time in any country. And they made the mandate cultists question the sacred scientific veracity that has been espoused by “experts” to the point of nauseation; and the logic of, and the negative effects of the various, ongoing, never-ending, often completely useless, and certainly authoritarian mandates. They forced Trudeau to further reveal how dangerous he really, seriously, has shown himself to be to our democracy, to our freedom, and to our unity and our national fabric, what with his utterly disgraceful, divisive rhetoric, his hateful, theatrical rants, his bald-faced lies and gaslighting and propaganda — dishonesty the likes of which I’ve never heard from any politician, in my lifetime. And the truckers further, if inadvertently, made the others who genuflect at Trudeau’s feet share his disgrace by his very example. Emboldened by his divisive, bombastic, dogmatic, and demagogic rhetoric, his cabinet colleagues, MPs, pundits, and even “reporters” in his various news divisions, the state-owned CBC chief among them, all joined in, often using his exact words.

All this hate was directed toward fellow Canadian citizens who are mostly good, peaceful, honest, salt-of-the-earth people of every race, color, creed, sex (both of the two), economic class, and political affiliation, but who fail to take a knee to his intellectual greatness and his authoritarian dictates.

Like squeezing the gross crap out of a huge zit, the truckers revealed these people for who they really are. This revelation — about forcing Trudeau and his party including the media to reveal themselves so blatantly — might turn out to be their greatest accomplishment of all. It’s a huge sale. And we all have nicer skin now. Thanks truckers!

But they’re not taking the money and running.

I want them to win the day. I want nothing more than that. But I think the success they achieved may be put at risk if they don’t pack it up and move on to the next thing, which largely involves making sure the electoral vote goes the right way next time, by which I mean the RIGHT way. If they do that, that’s a huge bonus, and then… it’s bonus time, just as it was at the brokerage firm.

I have seen where the Ottawa city council and their seemingly cowed progressive left-wing police chief have spoken publicly as if they have been invaded by Hitler’s Nazi forces or worse. They have joined the others in revealing how totally out of their minds they all are, and how prepared they are to be deceitful and exhibit how devoted they are to what I again have to call a cult of some kind. Read the Ottawa Police tweets and you’ll have to agree: they sound like a left-wing political party — literally speaking in political terms — armed by the state for the purpose of taking down any non-compliant, non-left-winger deplorables, who all — all, we’re told — have what their dear leader Justin Trudeau calls “unacceptable thoughts.” It seems to me like they — the police leadership — are pushing for a violent outcome. This is the violent outcome those on the left — totally mendaciously — predicted but which never came, much to their chagrin, so now, they and their misguided police force will cause the desired outcome by forcing protesters to take a defensive, self-preservation stance, and then claiming “violence” stemmed from among the truckers and their supporters. It’s a sort of a false flag operation. It’s atrocious, it’s third-world, it North Korean-style, but it’s real. And if they want it, it will happen, and that’s why I’m warning truckers to get out of Dodge.

I don’t like protests generally, partly because I’m an overly happy guy who just wants to drink cocktails with umbrellas in them on the beach, and who wants everybody to get along and buy me drinks. But it’s mostly because they’re virtually always a protest by left-wing extremists whining about something flaky or fruity and stupid. I admit I’m a lot more tolerant of this one, because — and this is hard to explain  — because those in power right now across Canada — the progressive left — have tried to quash it (!), and what they are trying to quash is a protest to regain normal FREEDOMS (!). Surely, even if you’re stupid, you comprehend the enormity of this.

What I can’t condone is lawlessness. This is why I’m not down with the border blockade in Alberta — the cause for which I totally support. And staying too long in Ottawa is, at least, overstaying one’s welcome, if not at least opening oneself up to charges of one sort or another, made up and actionable or not; and moreover, losing public favor that has been built up, which is really important.

Accept yes for an answer. Take the money and run. Keep winning. Honk honk.
