Here’s an open post about the Olympics and Canada’s really stellar performance so far… or whatever else you would like to say.
And here’s my favorite Canadian winner up to today (partly because she won a medal and partly because I loved the candid shot of her by Herbert Knosowski of Associated Press): It’s the tearfully happy Mellisa Hollingsworth-Richards, who thought she’d finish fourth in the women’s skeleton competition because even though her run earned her a third, two more real fast riders were to follow and she barely had hope. It would take a miracle. Before she knew it, she was a bronze medal winner. “In two minutes it went from heartbreak to ‘Oh my goodness, I’m going to have to wait for four more years’ to ‘Thank God,’” she said.
From Alberta, a great Canadian sports hero

She’s from Alberta and is married to a bronco-riding cowboy. Yeeha!
Canada’s medal count is outstanding so far. WAY better than the last Olympics. Is this spirit of winning and individual pursuit of excellence a sign of the times? Why yes I do believe it is.
