I’m still reading like a fiend but here’s some of the unbelievable story being told.
And bear in mind, people: I suspect that we know nothing. I suspect this doesn’t even scratch the surface.
OTTAWA (CP) – The House of Commons burst into an uproar within minutes after a publication ban was lifted in the sponsorship inquiry.
The Conservatives immediately leaped on the tell-all testimony of ad executive Jean Brault to call the sponsorship scandal the worst “criminal conspiracy” in Canadian history. “(The Liberal party) was using stolen money to undermine democracy in two successive elections,” said Tory MP Monte Solberg.
Justice John Gomery decided Thursday at 2 p.m. ET to partially lift a ban on the release of Brault’s testimony at the federal inquiry.
That opened the file of vivid, damning testimony that MacKay said shows Martin’s office, when he was finance minister, was directly involved in the sponsorship program.
