I was searching for something else but came up with my own post from September of last year. It bears repeating now:
According to a study conducted by Friends of Canadian Broadcasting (which I’m not necessarily friends with), 89 percent of CBC appointees are affiliated with the governing party which appoints them.
The report examines the 152 appointments past Prime Ministers have made to the CBC Board of Directors since 1936.
The report states, “Political patronage at the CBC is so deeply entrenched almost all current CBC Board members have affiliations to the Liberal government.”
They also found that at the state-run censor/regulator, the CRTC, which decides what TV channels and radio stations Canadians will be allowed to watch on TV and listen to on the radio, and what Canadians will not be allowed to watch and listen to, 87 percent of appointees to the CRTC were affiliated with the governing party.
And people wonder why I always refer to the CBC as “The CBC division of the Liberal Party”; and the CRTC as “The CRTC division of the Liberal Party”.
