“Yes but in our last 10 seconds…”

Just now the Canadian government’s state-run media had a rare “voice from the right” interview.  They do that on occasion just to avoid appearing to be too complicit with the liberal-left in this country, and avoid accusations that they never interview conservatives.  Their rationale is that if you ever interview a conservative—even at the ratio of one conservative per 800 liberals, then you do, in fact, offer balance between left and right.  On state-run television.  Run by liberals.  Stacked from top to bottom with Liberal Party appointees.

You know state-run media is left-wing when they have to have a token “voice from the right”.  They aren’t even embarrassed by this admission.  Go to the state-run Web site “cbc.ca” right now and you’ll find, among all the other left-wing columnists, a columnist described as Tom Velk – “From the Right”.  It’s a tacit admission that the rest is “From the Left”, but they just assume that you know that I suppose.

Anyway, Norman Spector, who is currently being interviewed on state-run television media (“Newsworld”), is being peppered with question by the liberal anchor who seems positively annoyed at having to do this.  Nearly as annoyed as Spector who keeps getting cut off by the questioner just as he’s making some headway.

It should be noted that Norman Spector is a staple in Canadian politics having made his name in the Brian Mulroney Progressive Conservative Party.  He’s not a NDP socialist to be sure, but he’s hardly a “right-winger” or a “conservative” in my view of politics.  His is a view from the center-right at best.

Nonetheless, he’s making some excellent points.  He’s a very, very bright man.  He tried to make the obviously painful point (to Liberals) that the Liberal Party corruption scandal inquiry going on right now is the result of Liberals simply trying to buy votes in Quebec for Liberal Party politicians.  I knew it, the anchor knew it, and that’s why the anchor did what I wouldn’t do—she cut him off mid-sentence so he couldn’t finish his thought.

The he went on and started a list of questions that should be asked of the Liberals.  Naturally, just as he was starting to make sense, the liberal anchor cut him off saying “yes, yes, there are lots of questions but in our last 10 seconds….”.

Spector looked as if he were surprised he even got that far.
