Ward Churchill, (con)Artist

A member of our discussion forums section (here’s your hat tip, Frogg!) posted these lovely paintings by super-liberal Ward Churchill.  You’ll remember Ward Churchill from my 9 billion blog entries about him.

Oh wait a second, these aren’t really by Ward Churchill.  But Ward Churchill says he painted them.  He did sign them as the artist.

Let’s review:

Here’s an original artwork drawn by the late artist Thomas E. Mails:

And here’s a painting signed by the liberal (con)Artist Ward Churchill, fake indian professor of hate and anti-Americanism and anti-capitalism:

Inspired, no?  So inspired that it’s nearly an identical copy.  THAT’S inspired.  It’s also a violation of copyright laws.

The story unfolded at “news4Colorado.com” and says:

Churchill made the serigraph in question in 1981 and called it “Winter Attack.” He printed 150 copies and sold one of them to Duke Prentup for about $100.

“I have enjoyed them ever since, immensely,” Prentup said. “They’re, obviously, up in my house.”

But last month came a stunning revelation. As Prentup flipped through a book of illustrations by renowned artist Thomas E. Mails, he found an artwork of striking similarity.

“And I opened it up and, wham! There it was,” Prentup said. “It’s the exact same thing, only mirror image, virtually to every detail.”

The pen and ink sketch by Thomas Mails first appeared in his 1972 masterpiece, “The Mystic Warriors of the Plains.”

Just so we’re clear about the character named Ward Churchill, and that it wasn’t merely a momentary lapse of sanity, here’s another example—this one provided by columnist Michelle Malkin.

The first photo, below, is “Little Big Man,” by Charles M. Bell.

The second photo is of a matted ink sketch for sale on eBay. The eBay seller says the print was purchased in 1980 directly from the “artist,” Ward Churchill.

Ahhh.  The head swirls with smart remarks.  But I’ll leave it up to you to think of your own and I don’t know, laugh, cry, shake your head, shake your fist, vote for anything or anybody but a liberal…

Ann Coulter has also written about him twice.
