Vacation continues: Please Pick Nose

Vacations are for letting loose and doing those things you hold yourself back from doing the rest of the time.  But this (below) was a sign in the B.C. Parliament Buildings, which we noticed while taking the tour.  We’re not sure why they recommend nose-picking, except that it is, of course, a government sanctuary, this big government building.

Please Pick Nose

Our trip home from Victoria, B.C.‘s capital city and home of Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet, was gorgeous.  The ferry trip across Georgia Straight is especially nice when it’s sunny and warm and you can sit out on the ship’s various decks and just soak it in.

The B.C. Ferry fleet is larger than Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet.  In fact, it’s larger than Canada’s entire Navy.  Unfortunately, while it’s state-owned and run, the ferry and marine workers’ labor union which thinks it owns it and runs it is the closest thing to a Marxist organization that you’ll ever want to see outside of a communist state (and outside the offices of the BC Teachers union), and I assure you if it came to deploying the fleet in a Canada and freedom-saving war situation, the workers would simply go on strike, and picket the ships and prevent the military from accessing them in order to “protect good union jobs”.  Because that’s “progressive”!

No I’m serious.

Here’s a snapshot of the ferry trip with Mount Baker in the top right…

We saw no motor-vehicle carnage on the highways this trip, thank God, and made it home safely.  A reader (The Patriot) sent me this award-winning public service TV commercial just to remind people to buckle-up.  Good commercial and good advice, as a huge handful of Canadians and Americans die each and every day during the summer car-travel months, with the upcoming Labor Day weekend being among the deadliest.
