State-run CBC loses curling - to private enterprise TSN

Liberals and CBC automatons are going to denounce curling as an “extreme right-wing nutbar sport”, broadcast only on “extreme right-wing biased TSN”, with the announcement today that the state-run CBC has lost its bid, using your tax dollars, to be the sole broadcaster of curling in Canada at your taxpayer expense.  It was won by TSN (The Sports Network), using their own damn cash. That ain’t liberal!

And that’s a good thing.  Now maybe I’ll watch it.  At least the women’s events.

TSN, CCA announce landmark deal

6/15/2006

TSN and the Canadian Curling Association (CCA) today announced a landmark six-year broadcast and multimedia deal, providing TSN with exclusive Canadian rights to Season of Champions events each year, making TSN the one and only home of curling in Canada.  The deal commences in 2008 and runs through the 2013/14 season, fortifying TSN’s long-standing partnership with the CCA that dates back to the network’s inception in 1984.

TSN is a part of the CTV family (Bell Globemedia, which includes the Globe and Mail).

CTV has also won the bidding (using their own cash, not yours) for the Olympics, starting in 2010, which used to be the sole domain of the state-run media, which used your tax dollars to compete for and pay for the broadcast rights with your tax dollars, against private citizens, because that’s what leftist governments do in the third world and throughout Canada.

This gives me the opportunity to once again drag out my series—one of the first when I started the PhotoBlog section, on Canadian curling women (and one liberal, and a set of American curling women twins).
