We live in a world of hypocrisy and whataboutism, and I hate that, but I can’t help imagine the outrage coming from the Left in this country if such a thing were said by, say, a conservative, with regard to any number of the usual riots, protests, church-burnings, railway blockades, pipeline blockades, old-growth-forest blockades, etc. — almost entirely full of leftist radicals — that go on all the time.
That invoking the military to quash Canada’s enemies idea — was greeted by — and really incited or encouraged — this completely predictable reply:
And this demonizing — as led right from the top by Justin Trudeau and the Liberals and the Jagmeet Singh and his NDP — and this invitation to reduce certain humanity down to “Nazi” “garbage” — may well have been the point. Judging by the progressive left’s name-calling coming right from the top and now mimicked right at the bottom, it certainly feels like the point.
And I can’t help but compare this apparently serious line of thought about moving troops in to crush the truckers’ convoy, to some news I linked to in this post I made a couple of days ago, in which the Canadian military was instructed to move AWAY from any trouble on the Ukraine border as Russians threaten to invade:
