Russia is not your friend

Just as they tried to rig the Ukraine election by poisoning the western-friendly candidate and thereby sweep into victory by virtue of the opponent being manifestly dead; and just as they undercut the U.S. by playing silly-monkey over the Iraq war; they’re now trying to bring about world peace by selling missiles to Syria.

Syria, you’ll remember, is where Saddam Hussein trucked most of his weapons of mass destruction under the watchful eye of the crack United Nations inspectors during the 90’s and up to the days and weeks before Saddam crawled into his rat hole.

Russia, you’ll remember, is the country that the liberal-left in Canada most wants to be like, at least economically and socially—forget that Russian weather though—am I right?!

Syria, you’ll hate to bear in mind if you’re a liberal, also harbors terrorists and is a state sponsor of terrorism, as a matter of public policy.  That’s what so endears them to liberals in Canada, who have vowed never to fight a war that they could get out of by pretending to care about peace and honor and defending Canada and not lying and stealing money from its citizens, and by totally relying on the Americans whom they otherwise hate.

Syria is governed by the same Ba’ath Party that the benevolent Mr. Hussein led in the pre-U.S.-invasion/occupation/quagmire/mass-murder, when Iraq was nothing but peaceful green parks, voluminous flowers arranged in the cutest little painted clay pots along open apartment balconies, and children happily playing with pogo sticks, according to Michael Moore’s accurate award-winning movie depiction.

Secretary of State Colin Powell also raised the reported sale in talks here Wednesday with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov, according to a State Department official speaking on condition of anonymity.

“The US policy on this is very clear,” Boucher said. “We’re against the sale of weaponry to Syria, against the sale of lethal military equipment to Syria, which is a state sponsor of terrorism.”

He said the United States was aware of reports a deal was brewing and “we think those kinds of sales are not appropriate. … The Russians know about this policy. They know about our views.”

The Russian media carried reports of the planned sale as Syrian President Bashar al-Assad prepared to visit Russia on January 24 for talks with President Vladimir Putin.
