Rasmussen poll shows “man-made global warming” theory on chilling trend

Here’s some more free ammo for the sensible set:

People seem to be warming to the idea that “man-made global warming” isn’t, really.  People do tend to sober up eventually.

…Forty-four percent (44%) of U.S. voters now say long-term planetary trends are the cause of global warming, compared to 41% who blame it on human activity.

Seven percent (7%) attribute global warming to some other reason, and nine percent (9%) are unsure in a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Democrats blame global warming on human activity, compared to 21% percent of Republicans. Two-thirds of GOP voters (67%) see long-term planetary trends as the cause versus 23% of Democrats. Voters not affiliated with either party by eight points put the blame on planetary trends.

[…]

In April of last year, 47% of Americans blamed human activity versus 34% who viewed long-term planetary trends as the culprit. But the numbers have been moving in the direction of planetary trends since then. …

So next time people around you or someone in the media tries to browbeat you and marginalize you as one of those fringe, outcast, weird, loopy, right-wing nutbars or “flat Earthers” —who don’t “get” science (which is “settled”, dontchaknow, proving just how thoroughly they “get science”); and that you are one of the few remaining blasphemous “deniers”,  tell them just how they are the ones who are actually heading toward the fringes, are out of sync with the plurality of folks, and are probably also ignorant and uniformed as to an actual scientific study.

Here was the key question and the answers:

3* Is Global Warming caused primarily by human activity or by long term planetary trends?

41% Human activity

44% Long term planetary trends

7% Some other reason

9% Not sure

Margin of Sampling Error, +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence
