“Progressives” are not being “inclusive”. Will something explode?

Another day, another call by a “progressive”—this time from the you’ve got to be kidding party— to join forces against the Conservatives.  Not for any principled reasons, really, I mean besides the usual “Harper’s a ‘neo-con’” and “Bush is a war criminal” (etc), but simply to get power for themselves over you and your government so they can do stuff to you and your family.  It’s what “progressives” do best—anything necessary to get into power, so they can do stuff to you and your family.

Today it’s a “progressive” power-luvin’ fella named Pat Martin from the quixotically war-hating pacifist-no-matter-what you’ve got to be kidding party.  Ironically, war has its place, it seems:  Let’s watch as he says almost war-time General-like stuff:

“We have to unite the left somehow… “[w]e need to mobilize our troops. This should be a call to arms, a sounding of the alarm … If (they) don’t get on board this time, how much longer can we hang on?”

Buzz Hargrove, who sounds very much like a communist to me, said it in February of last year (see my short blog entry about that).

Before getting his Buzz in February, in January none other than the failed Liberal leader and Prime Minister of Canada at the time, Paul Martin, said it.  He called on all “progressives” in Canada including even the Greens, to get together, as a means by which to gain power over the winning Conservatives, just prior the Conservatives mercifully winning the last election (see my blog entry about that one).

But once again, as I mentioned in each of the above blog entries last year, the folks who pretend they’re all about the “inclusive” forgot one of their very progressive allies.  The folks who are the epitome of “progressive”!  Exemplary “progressives”!  Quintessential “progressives”!

As I wrote back then, the progressive party in question wrote on their web site before either Buzz or Martin:

We will also support efforts to unite all labour, democratic and progressive forces to prevent the election of … an even more dangerous Tory majority, and work to elect the largest possible bloc of progressive candidates and parties.

[…]

A People’s Coalition of progressive forces, including … NDPers, and progressive Greens, as well as trade unionists, peace and environmental activists, representatives of the women’s and students’ movements – these are the forces that are needed in Parliament to achieve real and progressive change, and to block the right.

The party in question—which claims ownership of the “progressive” moniker?  The Communist Party of Canada.  God bless ‘em.  (Get it?)

Maybe they’re too progressive.  (Here’s clue:  I left out some words above which spoke to the need to not elect a Liberal government either—they’re too right wing and not progressive enough, I guess!  Not very inclusive of the li’l “progressives”, hmm?).

Back in February ‘06 I’d added an “update” to that blog entry about Paul Martin’s call for a united “progressive” army, which read:

UPDATE: Just heard on CTV Newsnet – Reporter Roger Smith quipped that on the Liberal campaign plane, the reporters in the back of the plane are all joking that tomorrow, the Liberals are going to start appealing to the progressives of the Marijuana Party, the Rhinoceros Party, the Marxist-Leninist Party, and any other progressives they can think of.

But to this day they seem to forget the ultimate progressives—the poor “progressive” Communists.  This is an outrage.  An abomination.  Those liars—they’re so uninclusive.
