The Liberals are now pleading—practically begging—the Conservatives not to force an election until the Gomery Inquiry is finished and has issued its report (which might be around December of this year or even well into next year).
“The challenge that this Liberal government issues to Stephen Harper and the Conservatives today is this,” said Martin spokesman Scott Reid.
“Will the leader of the Opposition give Canadians a guarantee that he will let Justice (John) Gomery report his findings – that he will not force voters into an election until they have the answers that this prime minister has said that they deserve?”
Well isn’t that special. When Liberal Prime Minister Paul (“we lead the world”) Martin took over from his mentor and partner Jean Chretien (or the guy I now call “Bonnie”), he told Canada that there will be no election until after the Gomery inquiry was over and we got to the bottom of this scandal.
Then he looked at the poll numbers and saw the Conservatives rising, and called an election because nothing is more important to Liberals than controlling you, you dumb stupid useless kanook (yes, I’m channeling Martin’s mind and how he thinks of you—but there’s simply no other explanation forthcoming from the Liberals for this blatant lie).
What schemes have they got in mind between now and the Gomery report coming in, which would cause them to plead with Conservative leader Stephen Harper to hold off? More efforts by Martin’s partner Chretien to stall or even cancel the inquiry as he has been doing? More “fund raising”, or to put it another way, “tax revenue dispensations” required for the Liberals to overcome all the yuckies? More social programs to get Canadians hooked on so they will feel the need to vote Liberal because they’re hooked?
