Man-made global idiocy update

A few bits on the “man-made global warming” (or as I call it, the “man-made global warming ha ha ha”) front…

First, this MUST READ.  It’s another excellent Lorne GunterNational Post column today, called “The media snowjob on global warming”.  Great stuff, 3-minute read.

image Our friend and columnist Steve Milloy writes in his JunkScience.com blog about something which I similarly see constantly in the Canadian media:

Juliet Eilperin’s front-page article in today’s Washington Post entitled, “Carbon Output Must Near Zero to Avert Danger, New Studies Say,” is accompanied by the photo below. It’s captioned, “A heavy haze could be seen in Beijing in August 2007. Two recent studies call for a heightened global effort to reduce carbon emissions.”

But carbon dioxide is a colorless and odorless gas that is incapable of producing such haze (aka smog).

To paraphrase Shakespeare [Romeo and Juliet, Act II, Scene II], “But soft what nonsense through yonder newspaper breaks. It is BS, and Juliet is the fool…”

Second item is an email from Greg, a weather (and idiocy) watcher back east, where the “man-made global warming” hasn’t taken hold yet this winter.  Or has it?!  Here’s his email and my reply:

Subject: Darn that global warming!

Monday, March 10, 2008 – 04:31 AM 570 News It’s been 84 years since we’ve had this much snow, but it appears we are very close to having broken that record, if we haven’t already.

570 News Weather Specialist John Wilson says it depends on where the measuring it being done. The record set in 1923/24 is 245.3 centimetres.

The University of Waterloo Weather Station says this has been the snowiest winter on record, measuring over 246 centimetres. But the airport measurement says, not yet. It checks in with 205 centimetres.

One record that did fall, was the snowiest day on record as we received between 37.5 and 40 centimetres of snow Saturday, or up to 16 inches.

Must be a reason how we have had such a cold winter with record breaking snow!

My reply:

You might have heard that the “man-made global warming” set, which changed their mantra to “climate change”, have now also been saying that the “climate change” will manifest itself as “extreme weather” conditions,  meaning very cold, and very snowy, and very rainy, very windy, very moderate, very normal, or very boring, when and if required to blame it on “climate change”.

It’s a very fluid religion, just like their position on everything.

And PTBC reader “Frogg” keeps me updated on all kinds of things from her perspective down south.  This first one is related to the British court decision last year in which a judge ruled that if schools wish to present Algore’s polemic about the “man-made global warming”, then it had to be done with a warning to students that the flick is really all about left-wing propaganda, and not science.  (I blogged about it here, because not a single Canadian media source wanted to make anything of it.  Also see Steve Milloy).

Weather Channel Founder Blasts Network; Claims It Is ‘Telling Us What to Think’

TWC founder and global warming skeptic advocates suing Al Gore to expose ‘the fraud of global warming.’

The Weather Channel has lost its way, according to John Coleman, who founded the channel in 1982.

Coleman told an audience at the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change on March 3 in New York that he is highly critical of global warming alarmism.

“The Weather Channel had great promise, and that’s all gone now because they’ve made every mistake in the book on what they’ve done and how they’ve done it and it’s very sad,” Coleman said. “It’s now for sale and there’s a new owner of The Weather Channel will be announced – several billion dollars having changed hands in the near future. Let’s hope the new owners can recapture the vision and stop reporting the traffic, telling us what to think and start giving us useful weather information.”

The Weather Channel has been an outlet for global warming alarmism. In December 2006, The Weather Channel’s Heidi Cullen argued on her blog that weathercasters who had doubts about human influence on global warming should be punished with decertification by the American Meteorological Society.

Coleman also told the audience his strategy for exposing what he called “the fraud of global warming.” He advocated suing those who sell carbon credits, which would force global warming alarmists to give a more honest account of the policies they propose.

“[I] have a feeling this is the opening,” Coleman said. “If the lawyers will take the case – sue the people who sell carbon credits. That includes Al Gore. That lawsuit would get so much publicity, so much media attention. And as the experts went to the media stand to testify, I feel like that could become the vehicle to finally put some light on the fraud of global warming.”

Earlier at the conference Lord Christopher Monckton, a policy adviser to former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, told an audience that the science will eventually prevail and the “scare” of global warming will go away. He also said the courts were a good avenue to show the science.

And Frogg supplemented that fun tidbit with this email:

Joel,

Here is a related article to the one I sent as a tip on the founder of the Weather Channel suggesting Al Gore be sued.

Glenn Beck had an interview with President Klaus of the Czech Republic on his TV show tonight.  Transcript isn’t posted yet but you can view the video here:

It was really interesting, Joel.  Pres Klaus said that liberals have given up on socialism and communism because they know they are dead. And, instead they are looking for a new “ism” and have settled on “global alarmism”.  He said it serves the same purpose to reach their goals and we should fight it.

There’s so much more but I would need to hire staff to keep up, requiring a bigger office, and folks commuting to work, contributing to “man-made global warming” and causing smog, and AIDS I think.  (Snarf)
