Liberals think conservatives are stupid. But Conservatives also think conservatives are stupid.

Subject: Conservative Party survey

Hi Joel

I just received a survey from the Conservatives where they asked several questions, I guess to gauge what the members are thinking about specific issues and on the threat of an election. I think it’s just a not-so-thinly veiled attempt to raise more funds.(By thinly veiled, I mean no veil at all. It’s pretty obvious in fact…)

However, a couple of the questions I found interesting. In case you’re off their mailing list…

“7.  For the past two years, CBC funding has exceeded a billion dollars per year. Do you think taxpayers receive good value or bad value from the CBC?”

“8.  Some people have raised questions about how the Canadian Human Rights Commission investigates and settles complaints. Would you like the Government to keep the mandate and powers of the Canadian Human Rights Commission the same, scrap it altogether or reform the Commission?”

I’m encouraged that they are bringing up these issues, but they still can’t have any money…

Hi Matt,

Over the recent years, they’ve included those surveys asking those same questions.

Including a silly survey in what is actually NOTHING BUT yet another fund-raising letter is an age-old tactic used by professional fund-raisers and slick-ass marketers.  It’s deployed all over politics and consumer products marketing on both sides of the political and economic isle.

They do that to head-fake you and all the other people whom they view as utterly stupid—into thinking they care what you think, which of course they don’t.  You probably know that because you aren’t stupid, as they are hoping you are and likely think you are.

Asking those two specific questions that you pointed out, points to the fact that they know what a substantial portion of their voter and financial support base want.  Which makes it even worse.  Why?  Because it’s like admitting that they don’t care what we think, and what we want as a party and as a nation.

They have tacitly said that they won’t do anything about those things anyway.  For example Conservative ministers like James Moore have even stated in the most vociferous way possible that they support the CBC and the further government funding of the state-owned CBC forever more.  In fact they increase funding to the CBC and to the CBC’s various suppliers in the “arts” community every year.  And they have purposely done NOTHING about the “human rights” commissions and the overt liberal fascism contained therein, despite outcries from the conservatives of Canada, and despite several cases of egregious treatment of Canadians—conservatives, mostly—by those “human rights” commissions.

So the interesting thing here is that they know what the conservative base wants (at least on a couple of files), and yet still steadfastly refuse to do it anyway.  And then they ask you to give them your money.

It’s like they think you’re beyond stupid —that you’re actually insane.

And that’s why they won’t get my support, and why nobody should support them.  When they start doing what it is that conservatives want and actually representing conservatives and bravely holding themselves out to be actual conservatives, then I’ll reconsider.  For now, they’re Liberal Party Too to me.  I’m a conservative.  I support conservative causes, like PTBC.  (And I actually appreciate your past support too, Matt!)

Thanks Matt!
Joel
