Liberals’ media Monday Bullcrap Sessions

“Hope always beats fear and all that Stephen Harper knows is the fear button,” said Kinsella.
Liberals predict Tory attack ads would backfire

Bullcrap.

Apparently for the Liberal Party, bullcrap trumps honesty.

And perhaps for the liberals’ media too.  Here’s another paragraph from that same CTV.ca “news” article—and please bear in mind this is ostensibly a “news” article, not an editorial:

They would aim to factually counter the Tory attacks, but insist they don’t want to get into tit-for-tat mudslinging. They want Ignatieff to continue imparting a positive message, in contrast to Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s penchant for ruthless partisanship.

So it’s either Ignatieff and his “positive message”, or it’s “Harper’s penchant for ruthless partisanship”.

That’s total bullcrap

imageIt reminded me of this paragraph from this article—also a “news” article, no, not an editorial –  by reporter David Akin, in today’s Vancouver Sun division:

Whenever he’s pressed, as he was last week in the House of Commons, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty loves to thunder at Opposition politicians that the top priority for the federal government is to make sure Canada’s financial system is working.

“Loves” to “thunder”, huh?  That’s utter unadulterated journalistic bullcrap.

“Thunder”, as used in this context, is a totally loaded, negative, critical word which is used in order to steer the reader to form a negative opinion.  It’s used as a cute little literary devise —an editorial—a warning: what you’re about to read is an example of the rank baloney spoken by the bombastic Conservative Finance Minister.  That’s what passes as solid journalism today.  Maybe Akin intended that for his opinion blog.  And maybe not.

But connect some of the dots:  Harper and Flaherty spent the entire late summer and fall and into the winter trying to calm fears and maintain calm, avoiding the overt and borderline treasonous and outright despicable trash-talking of the economy that the Liberal Party was thoroughly invested in, and still is, purposely stirring up the worst fears and panic among Canadians that I can remember since, well since ever. For that Harper and the Conservatives were ruthlessly mocked, attacked, and scolded with the incessant blasting and bashing and yelling by the Liberals and their media.  Attacked for NOT stirring up fears and panic.  Like them.

Conservative attack ads against Ignatieff are the very least of our worries as Canadians today.  In fact they should be welcomed.  What we have to be on guard for are liberals and their fear mongering and attacks on and the trash-talking of our country.

And bullcrap.
