Liberals’ emergency gay marriage bill to be forced through no matter what

Darfur?  Whatever!

Gay marriage is the most important thing in the whole wide world to the liberal-left in Canada, currently.  There is simply no bigger issue to the liberal-left.  Creating a Mo Liberal Canada is Job One for Canada’s socialist parties.

And the liberal-left is so in touch with Canadians, who the liberals think are as eager for a Mo Liberal Canada as they are.  For example, look at this recent poll for proof:

See?  Canadians care about getting that gay marriage thing going more than just about…… er…. nothing

The Paul Martin government took extraordinary steps yesterday to push through legislation making same-sex marriage legal, vowing to keep MPs in their seats into the summer to pass the controversial bill.

[…] House Leader Tony Valeri later gave formal notice that he will present a motion to extend the sitting, which is currently set to wrap up Thursday.

If passed, it would be the second time the sitting has been extended since 1982, the year politicians adopted a set calendar within which to accomplish its business.

In a move aimed at quieting same-sex marriage critics on the Liberal back bench, the party put forward an amendment that would ensure churches will not lose their charitable status for failing to perform gay marriages.

That amendment was rejected by Commons Speaker Peter Milliken.

Tory justice critic Vic Toews said the defeat of the amendment shows there are still major concerns with the legislation that must be debated.

But just to show they’re serious, Jack Layton of the extreme left-wing socialist party, the NDP, said:

“It’s not time to take a holiday when we’re still working on generating equality that people have waited for so long to achieve,” Mr. Layton said.

No word on what to do with all those dumb bothersome citizens who can’t get access to basic health care because of the (perhaps unconstitutional?) socialist system that he and his colleagues put in place and are demanding we maintain—throughout the summer—and into eternity.
