It’s the Baghdad Bob syndrome.
I just got done blogging about the most recent poll, which puts a lie to the liberal media’s constant blathering about “falling” Canadian support for the war on terror in Afghanistan. I mentioned how in actual fact, despite their anti-war agitprop, the latest poll shows support is up. That’s an increase in support. The majority of Canadians support our efforts.
Ipso facto, the state-run media reports today thusly:
Public support for Canada’s mission in Afghanistan has dipped in recent weeks following the deaths of five Canadian soldiers…
Of course the day the poll was released, the liberals’ CTV.ca reported:
“Poll numbers suggest the mission is becoming increasingly unpopular with Canadians.”
…and al-Reuters had gleefully reported:
… but growing opposition to the Afghan mission …
…which all reminds me of Baghdad Bob —Iraq’s former minister of information.
They’re not even [within] 100 miles [of Baghdad]. They are not in any place. They hold no place in Iraq. This is an illusion… they are trying to sell to the others an illusion.
