Liberal think-tank calls for more taxes, more social program spending

One of the most overtly left-wing organizations in the nation has once again spouted its far-left socialist rhetoric and has been dutifully picked up and reported as Gospel in the mainstream media.  And once again, the organization is not identified as “left-leaning”, “center-left”, “socialist”, “Marxist”, “progressive”, “liberal-left”, nor even “politically-motivated”.  They’re just described as an innocuous “economic think tank”, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (the “alternative” being all-out socialism and ending Canada’s capitalist system as we know it, at any cost).

See my previous blog entry exposing an identical phenomenon just earlier this week when they conducted an ever-so-fair-and-balanced poll.  As I said there, this is in contradistinction to any mention of the words “Fraser Institute” in the liberal media, whereupon the Canadian liberal media handbook specifies that reporters warn readers by surrounding the ominous phrase with the words “far-right-wing”, “right-leaning”, “center-waaaay-right”, “ultra-right”, “freaking conservative nutbar”, “not liberal”, or “Bush-lovin’”.  That’s if they bother to report any of their news, such as their news release from yesterday which I blogged about HERE in case the liberal-left mainstream media didn’t report it, and hey, whadyaknow.

In its annual alternative federal budget, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives says the Conservatives’ own estimates indicate they would have to cut program spending to pay for their full slate of tax cuts.

Instead, the centre argues that Canadians would be better served by investing the surplus in a range of public services that address the country’s most important problems.

The group’s alternative budget calls on the government to honour past commitments to workers, child care, First Nations, the environment, young Canadians and cities and communities.
