Earlier, I blogged about the state-run CBC Newsworld’s incessant and rather insolent coverage of Stephen Harper’s plans to spend more time letting people get to know him. They put up a couple of black and white photos of Harper tossing a football to deputy leader Peter MacKay. They later interplayed those photos with some old relics from decades ago—a similar shot of Progressive Conservative leader Robert Stanfield throwing a football (or more acurately, missing one thrown to him).
They claimed, on screen, that the Harper photos were courtesy of Canwest News Service, which I suppose might explain the colorless nature of the photos, since Canwest is in the newspaper business (in addition to operating the Global TV network—but anyway). I suggested that “Apparently the CBC couldn’t find their color film for their state-owned photographic contraptions, so they had to resort to using black and white film which, darn the luck, makes the Conservative Party guys look like relics from days gone by. Backwards, if you will. Not “progressive” probably!”
But I found this photo just now on the Yahoo News web site. The credit given is to AP Photo/CP, Jake Wright.
See if you can see any difference between the photos:

One looks like an old relic from the past, and the other looks almost like a modern Stephen Harper on a nice sunny day.
