Conservatives should be left-wing any day now

They’re perfectly fine with abortions, the Conservative Party, unlike conservatives, and they’re promoting a concept of gay marriage “unions” or something, which is code for “gay marriage”.  Now they seem to like the idea of the liberal-left’s state-run, nationalized, universal, Marxist daycare program (Soviet Union-style!) so that Canadian parents can plug their kids into the state’s liberal nanny-care and indoctrination program, and toodle off to work or play.

But you see they’re thinking about YOU, dear citizen!  See—look:

“I do realize that it is a significant change from our policy in the last election,” said Tory intergovernmental affairs critic Rona Ambrose. “It’s because we have a great deal of young parents sitting in our caucus and it became a big issue for them.”

See? It’s because they have kids they don’t have time for that crap.  Therefore we all need a taxpayer-funded universal state-run Soviet-style program.  Got it?

The Conservatives have long insisted that Liberal proposals for a national child-care program would be exorbitantly expensive and a bureaucratic intrusion into an area best managed by parents.

As recently as last month, Conservative Leader Stephen Harper said the Liberals were “creating a bureaucratic daycare system so expensive that young couples won’t be able to afford to have children.”

But, yesterday, Ms. Ambrose said the government isn’t spending nearly enough. “The amount of money that’s on the table won’t even scratch the surface of the daycare needs in this country,” she said.

Well that’s OK.  The Conservative Party of Canada, or what I will now call the Liberals Too, will get people to lose that whole “Hidden Agenda” moniker if they are exactly like the corrupt liberal-left socialists.  And THAT, my friends is what’s important.  To them.

“Small wonder Canadians believe that the Conservatives have a hidden agenda when they try to persuade people that they support today’s child-care agreements after opposing national child care in the most ideological and emphatic terms to date,” spokesman Scott Reid said.

Oh.  OOPS!  Maybe they should take dithering lessons from Mr. Ditherass and backtrack a few more times until they get some o’ them, you know, “principles”!  No—too radical.
