“Conservative” SPENDING + kowtowing + appeasement of liberal-left politics = $50 billion deficit

At least half of the rhetoric you’re hearing about the ballooning Canadian deficit today is just that:  rhetoric.  Junk politics.  Pure left-wing-driven bullcrap, all driven by lying politicians and the CBC and left-wing lying media.

image1. Canada’s $50 BILLION deficit is not actually “the biggest in history” as the lying Liberals and the phony-to-its-core socialist NDP and nearly all of the media is pretending, since they’re falsely comparing Canada’s current $50 billion deficit with the Mulroney deficit of $40 billion — when Canada’s early 1990’s economy was much smaller.  imageRatio-wise, in real terms (and you do want reality, don’t you?) the current deficit is nowhere near as big as it was then—barely HALF of what it was then.  It’s now much smaller in real terms—again, nearly half.  So why are they trying to sucker you?  Do they think you’re idiots?  Yes.  It’s actually a lie to say it’s a record deficit.  Once again:  it’s an outright lie.  So you decide right now if you want to vote for political parties and politicians like Liberal Finance critic John McCallum and NDP leader Jack Layton and their political parties that lie through their teeth at you, assuming you’re a complete idiot. And buy the media message from lying journalists?  It’s you’re call.

2.  Canada’s $50 billion deficit is nowhere near as big as lefts’ faux God-figure Barack Obama’s, which the liberal-left think is just lovely and make excuses for all day long.  And nowhere near as big as it would be if the Conservatives actually “obeyed” the demands of the Liberals and further leftists who yell for more spending all day long.  Canada’s deficit represents about 3% of our Gross Domestic Product, which is low by current world standards, and only a quarter of Obama’s 12% of GDP (which is itself growing out of control making Canada and its Finance Minister Flaherty’s estimates look like Mr. Stable by comparison).  The U.S. may be facing a TWO TRILLION DOLLAR deficit this year.  We often use the multiple of TEN to magnify the American experience, since they have ten times the population.  But that’s FORTY TIMES our deficit.

3. On the one hand, the Liberals and NDP pretend they’re outragedoutraged!! — that the deficit it as high as it is, and yet as we all know very well, they have been doing nothing but demanding —DEMANDING!! —all day long — that the government spend far, far more of your tax dollars in order to so-called “stimulate” the economy, which would cause the deficit to be multiples higher than it is today.  So it—they—are a total farce — a lie — which no thinking Canadian should fall for.  You are not nearly as stupid as they think you are.  They take you for a bunch complete idiots.

So you’re right to feel completely insulted by the Liberals, the NDP, and nearly all of the news media and its editors and “journalists”.

ALL OF THAT NOTWITHSTANDING:
The Conservatives’ precious “pragmatic” (as opposed to what the likes of me have been demanding, “principled and actual conservative-based”) solutions to running our country in a minority and maintaining power and winning elections (etc.) is working out really well, huh?  I think I’ll do what most sane people would, and use this as further proof that I should stick with my principled — oh and actual conservative — plan:

·  They shouldn’t have been expanding government and increasing spending during the relatively good times.  And they did.  And it was stupid.  And I complained about it.  And they ignored me.  They chose “pragmatism” (and political expediency and kowtowing to the liberal left and its media…) instead of being conservatives.  They increased state funding of “the arts”, and the CBC.  During good times.

&middot They should have cut taxes even more.  Let Canadians keep more of their money to spend, which they would do more effectively and efficiently than government ever could or ever will, ever, ever, ever.  But they didn’t.  They obeyed the liberal-left.  “Pragmatic”, dontchaknow.

·  Reduce spending generally, right now.  Cut the size and scope and meddling of government by approximately one-quarter now, until it’s only a quarter the size it is now.  The government should never have embarked on all this baloney Keynesian “stimulus” spending, propping up dying and poorly-run industries which they know are replete with employees with way overstuffed pay and benefit and pension packages.  Leave tax dollars in Canadians’ hands.  It has always worked out best.  Governments aren’t the solution, they’re the problem.

·  During good times, pay down the debt (the Conservatives were, but not enough).  Reduce, don’t increase spending—and both Liberals and Conservatives did—by a ridiculous 6.2% per year, which is twice the rate of population growth and inflation.  This year it’s more like 10% in fiscal expansion, and that’s not even taking into account the final figures for the ridiculous GM and Chrysler bailouts which the government is doing exclusively for the CAW and other unions and never should have.  All of what they’re doing is literally a recipe for disaster.  It’s literally insanity.  You trust people who think that way with your money?  Do you now see why I say we should keep it instead of letting them have it?

It should literally be against the law for governments to do this to us.  The government needs to be severely regulated by strict sanity laws.

Here’s an idea:  let’s all take over the governing of our country.  Don’t feed the Conservative Party any more political campaign cash, feed actual conservative advocates.  And for God’s sake — for Canada’s and your sake — don’t feed the media or the other branches of the liberal-left.  It’s largely them and this kind of thinking that has landed us where we are today:  in recession, and in deficit, and in debt, paying huge and growing taxes for the now unforeseeable future, rewarding failure, and making people and companies reliant upon the biggest failure of all —the government.

Hi Joel,

I’m with you on this one. I recently sent a note to the Conservative Party of Canada (in one of their donation envelopes) explaining that I would not be donating my hard earned cash to them until they started acting, well, like Conservatives.

I made sure they knew I was unhappy with the bailouts, the HRC’s, and their support of man made global warming. I concluded with the following re-write of Blue Oyster Cult’s hit Godzilla.

                GOVZILLA.

With a gigantic gullet and a fat, sucking sound,
it gobbles tons of people’s freedoms down. Govzilla!

PC victims on a gravy train,
scream for more and then scream again. Govzilla!

It picks up a budget and scarfs it right down.
There’s an endless supply in that Ottawa town. Govzilla!

Oh no, they say it’s got to grow.
    Grow grow Govzilla! Yeah.
Oh no, another tax black hole.
    Grow grow Govzilla! Yeah.

    (What’s that smell? Stimulus stew!
    What’s that smell? Stimulus stew!
Govzilla’s setting out to feast on you!
No place to escape, give up, bend over please!
No place to escape, give up, bend over please!)

Oh no, they say it’s got to grow.
    Grow grow Govzilla! Yeah.
Oh no, another tax black hole.
    Grow grow Govzilla! Yeah.

History points out time and again.
Progressives rule by the folly of men.

    Govzilla! Govzilla! Govzilla! Govzilla!

Keep at ‘em Joel,

Mark
