CBC “News” neglects sex charges against public school teachers; hits Christian leader

Reporter Janet Steffenhagen of the Vancouver Sun properly writes-up this latest round of sex charges against BC public school teachers today, but the CBC doesn’t.  Go ahead and do / a / search at the state-owned media.  You’ll have to find your way around the huge photo of the head of the Canadian diocese of the Orthodox Church in America that they have prominently displayed there today, having been charged with sexual assault against two young boys.

The photo at left is what dominates their state-owned web site’s front page right now.  It’s the main story.

The CBC never seems to miss a chance to accidentally miss the stories about secular public schools and their teachers getting charged with or accused of sexual malfeasance, but are all over the juicy bad-Christian stories.

Vancouver teacher charged with sex crime against teenage student

A Vancouver high school teacher has been charged with sexual interference involving a 16-year-old student in Richmond last August.

Louis Jefferson, 53, a teacher at Churchill secondary who also taught summer school at Vancouver Technical secondary, was placed on leave Sept. 24, immediately after the allegation was brought to the attention of Vancouver school officials, who also called police, according to an RCMP news release.

Meanwhile, a former elementary school principal in Fort Nelson has surrendered his teaching certificate after being convicted of accessing child pornography, the B.C. College of Teachers said in a recent discipline decision. Kelly McNeice was the principal at Angus elementary school when he downloaded child porn on his home computer.

Christopher John Banmen, a former science and biology teacher at Lillooet secondary, has also lost his right to teach following a hearing by the college of teachers. Banmen pleaded guilty in 2009 to sexual assault and the production and possession of child pornography.

The college also posted a decision saying it has cancelled the teaching certificate of Scott Matthew Killin, who was employed as a teacher-on-call in 2008-09 when he was found to have lied to school officials about a sexual relationship with a Grade 12 girl. …

And this is just in BC, and only recently.

But whatever.  A Christian has been caught.  The CBC wants you to know that.
