Canadians agree with Bush. Liberal media in funk.

The liberal media hates it when this happens, I suspect.  They promote their agenda over and over (vote liberal!), then throw a poll up on their web site to verify that their spin is working, only to find out it isn’t.  Darn the luck and those stupid Canooks.

But they’re diligent.  They then usually quickly conjure up another poll to replace the failed one while reporters refer to their style guides and see where they went wrong and where they could improve:  have they failed to use the words “hidden agenda” lately?  Did the news anchor fail to do air quotes around “war on terror” during the last news hour?  Have they not put President Bush’s picture beside Saddam Hussein lately and called the Iraq war a “failed” “quagmire” this hour, repeating for the nine zillionth time the number of war dead?  Have they forgotten to mention something about any Trudeau—living or dead—in the past four days?  Man-made global warming’s been left unmentioned in the past five minutes?  Have they reiterated that Stephane Dion is the Green Guru today?  No?  Ah!  Therein lies the problem! And so on.

In the case of CTV and the Globe and Mail (both Bell Globemedia assets), they may also then use their contracted polling firm called something like Council of Liberal-Left Strategery and Polling for Liberal-Left Media and Associated Liberals, Inc. to fandangle a poll showing how the “religious right” and “evangelicals” and “Christian conservatives” manifestly “suck” in the whole scheme of things, “according to all Canadians” (within Layton’s you’ve got to be kidding party’s strongest ridings, wink), and then “analyse” those results (with the able help of far-left or Marxist university professors, of course!) to mean…. vote liberal! Then they publish the bejeezus out of the results, ignoring Nik Nanos’ SES Research poll showing the Conservatives’ Harper miles ahead of the others(**See update below)

It doesn’t always happen like this, of course.  It’s just “very likely” (as the man-made global political scientists at the U.N. might put it) that it does happen this way, and therefore it does, if I understand correctly.

Here’s a related story at CTV.ca.

And one at the state-run CBC.

**UPDATE: On CTV Newsnet’s “Mike Duffy Live” program, they mentioned Nik Nanos’ SES Research poll.  Mike Duffy introduced the poll charts by explaining that during the commercial break, they were all having “a good chuckle” about the latest SES poll.  I suppose that’s because it simply can’t be taken seriously.  I simply don’t know how else to take a comment like that.
